Weekend SweetSpot – Dorset – Hidden gems sheltered from the elements

Planning a quick getaway? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending picks out the Weekend SweetSpot – an area of the UK that we think looks one of the better placed, weather-wise, for the upcoming weekend.

A mixture of conditions will affect the UK this weekend. Many of us will see a little rain, but tucked away from the northwesterly breeze some southern coastal counties can expect to be better sheltered than most.

Dorset is a county of contrasts, offering the very best of countryside, coastline, events and attractions. It’s perfect for all ages and interests.

The unique Jurassic Coast is a must for visitors new and old. Take in the magnificent views of Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove as you hike through history – geologically speaking. This weekend you’ll be in for a treat as Saturday night sees the Flaming Torchlit Guided Walk to the top of Golden Cap.

Alternatively, head inland through the many quaint villages or take in the grandeur of some of the county’s stately homes. Then to round off the day, make your way to the Swanage Blues Festival for some evening music. It lasts all weekend.

Saturday will probably be the cloudiest day, perhaps bringing a few bursts of rain. So a waterproof might be handy.

Sunday looks dry and fine, and the sunshine should beautifully illuminate the autumn leaves.

Nights will be chilly – so take an extra layer or two as you head out for the evening.
