Weekend SweetSpot – Kent – A warm welcome from the Garden of England

Planning a quick getaway? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending picks out the Weekend SweetSpot – an area of the UK that we think looks one of the better placed, weather-wise, for the upcoming weekend.

It might be mid-October but the weather for some this weekend will feel like August. As warm southerly winds waft up from the Continent across parts of England, Kent is perfectly placed to reap the benefits.

‘The Garden of England’ offers much variety to see and do. Head out into the countryside and pick your own pumpkin in preparation for Hallowe’en. Or wander through the weald and downland and take in the beauty of the autumn leaves, before sipping a glass or two of the local wines. Viticulture is booming, thanks to the unique climate and soils found in this corner of the country.

There’s so much history to absorb in Canterbury that you could spend the entire weekend here – wandering the medieval streets and visiting the magnificent cathedral.

The county offers no shortage of coastal variety either – from the flat horizons near Romney Marsh, past the famous white cliffs of Dover, to the quaint fishing vibe of Whitstable.

And with the expected warmth, perhaps it’s not too late to take a quick dip in the sea!

The weekend may start a little grey and damp, but conditions should steadily improve. As the sun breaks through the clouds, the temperatures will climb.

By Sunday we could see a lot of sunshine and highs into the low 20s Celsius. What a bonus for a weekend getaway at this time of year!
