Weekend SweetSpot – The Cotswolds – Cosiness amongst the hills

Planning a quick getaway? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending picks out the Weekend SweetSpot – an area of the UK that we think looks one of the better placed, weather-wise, for the upcoming weekend.

It’s November and although the chill winds may whisper the approach of winter, autumn still holds sway in the countryside.

In one unique part of Britain, it’s not just the glowing leaves that warm the heart during a day out in the elements.

The Cotswolds are world-renowned for their honey stone villages, rolling hills and secluded valleys. If you’ve never been before, the quaint beauty will take your breath away.

From Bath in the south to Broadway in the north, there’s so much to see and do. Why not wander a section of The Cotswold Way? At the crest of every hill you’ll be treated to a brand new vista of quintessential England. Drop in on the Cotswold Farm Park. Then settle in at one of the scores of rustic inns, to enjoy a well-earned drink by the fireside.

If shopping is your thing, then the larger Cotswold towns of Cheltenham and Cirencester offer a blend of select boutiques and fine antique shops. And the huge range of restaurants are sure to fuel the well-earned appetite, after a busy day of sight-seeing. The smaller settlements, such as Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Campden, offer a quieter setting by which to feast on the broad range of historic architecture.

Waterproofs and windproofs at the ready! But most of the weekend will be dry and, with time, the rain will be replaced by the shine. In the end, the autumn sunshine will light up these ancient hills and cottages. Despite the chill wind, their glow will sustain you long into next week!
