Weekend SweetSpot – Anglesey – Shelter from the chill

Planning a quick getaway? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending picks out the Weekend SweetSpot – an area of the UK that we think looks one of the better placed, weather-wise, for the upcoming weekend.

There’s much talk of severe cold on the way. But some parts of the country are well-placed to escape the worst of the bitter easterly winds this weekend. Sheltered by the towering Snowdonia range of mountains is an island that has a charm and a peacefulness all of its own.

Anglesey is steeped in history. In fact it’s thanks to a pioneer of industrial engineering, Thomas Telford, that you arrive on the island via the iconic Menai Bridge.

Once you’re on the island it’s easy to escape into another time and way of life. Striking castles, quaint old harbours, ancient burial chambers and numerous museums and galleries are within reach in a day.

Much of the coastline has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Miles of scenic walks on the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path and cycle paths await you,

Anglesey is many things. It is a place that inspires, a place that appeals to all the senses – a place to see, hear, taste, smell and feel. It is a place to get away from it all. But most of all, Anglesey is a place to get out and do!

Whatever you get up to, you’ll come away from Anglesey with a much warmer feeling than when you arrived.
