Weekend SweetSpot – Oxfordshire – Springing into Middle England

Planning a quick getaway? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending picks out the Weekend SweetSpot – an area of the UK that we think looks one of the better placed, weather-wise, for the upcoming weekend. This time we head to Oxfordshire.

After a week of typical April ups and downs, there’s a timely upward turn in temperatures expected by the weekend. That’s handy because Oxfordshire’s many honey-stoned villages glow best in the sunshine!

But the quintessential Cotswolds are just one of the many and varied treats that this county has to offer for the weekend visitor. As the ancient Rollright Stones attest, this part of England has been a cultural hub for millennia.

Heading eastwards to Blenheim Palace, you’ll be transported into magnificence from a more modern period. This thriving Estate will offer grandeur, education and activity for all the family.

Books have been written about the City of Oxford. So the only words needed here are: “Please visit!” Theatre, museums, music, architecture and so much more await.

And if you need a change of gear after such a frantic sensory overload, perhaps a change of gear might be just what’s needed to finish off your weekend. What better way than a relaxing stroll along the Thames at Henley.

There’s the threat of a shower or two, but much of the weekend in Oxfordshire will be dry. It’ll feel pleasant in any sunshine too, with the evenings remaining pleasantly mild.
