Fancy an autumn break? To help you make the most of your outdoor leisure time, weathertrending highlights the Monthly SweetSpot. For November, we explore the delights of The Cotswolds. We pick out some of the events and attractions to look forward to in the area.
In one unique part of Britain it’s not just glowing leaves that warm the heart during a day out in the elements. It’s November and although the chill winds may whisper the approach of winter, autumn still holds sway in the countryside. The Cotswolds are world-renowned for their honey stone villages, rolling hills and secluded valleys. Its quaint beauty will take your breath away!
So much to explore
From Bath in the south to Broadway in the north, there’s so much to see and do. A favourite place of ours is the Burford Garden Company for breakfast, a spot of shopping and then a walk around the Cotswold Farm Park. There are scores of rustic inns all over the region. You could enjoy a well-earned drink by the fireside after wandering a section of The Cotswold Way. At the crest of every hill you’ll be treated to a brand new vista of quintessential England.
If shopping is your thing, then the larger Cotswold towns of Cheltenham and Cirencester offer a blend of select boutiques and fine antique shops. And the huge range of restaurants are sure to fuel the well-earned appetite, after a busy day of sight-seeing. The smaller settlements, such as Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Campden, offer a quieter setting by which to feast on the broad range of historic architecture.
Here are a few suggestions of events taking place in November. Read John Hammond’s Month Ahead to see if you will be needing your waterproofs or a wooly hat!
