Frost, Ground

This occurs when the temperature of the ground surface falls below freezing point. Often this can occur while the air temperature above the ground remains frost-free, so ground frost is much more common than air frost. It's often prevalent under clear skies, when heat radiates quickly from the surface of the ground, causing it to cool more quickly than the layers of air above it.
