Jet Stream

Jet streams are narrow channels of high speed air (which can be as fast-moving as 200mph). They are often found at the top of the troposphere. Jet streams tend to occur at the frontal boundary of two very different airmasses - one cold and one much warmer. The main jet stream that affects the UK is the Polar Front Jet.
