MJO
The Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) is an eastward pulsation of alternating enhanced and suppressed rainfall across the tropics, mainly observed over the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The MJO can have wider-ranging influences on weather around the globe, including tropical cyclone and hurricane activity. It can also indirectly influence the jet stream across mid latitudes and, hence, the relative dominance of westerly winds affecting the UK.
